About the Book
This book is written for Westerners curious to penetrate the exotic mystery of modern China, even though I know it is impossible for Westerners ever fully to do so. At a time when overly broad stereotypes about the Chinese abound in the West, Redneck in Red China is designed to assist the Westerner ameliorate the untoward effects of his over-generalizations. The reader will discover that not all Chinese eat cats and dogs, and most Chinese love Americans, and some students even wear American flag T-shirts. At a time when geopolitical tensions between the superpowers dominate the headlines, I think it would be useful for Americans to be able to better understand with whom we are competing.
